Welcome to the Hebrew Language Academy

Welcome to the Hebrew Language Academy, a diverse, dual-language school rooted in the community of Mill Basin! As the Head of School, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school. As both a parent and educator, the experiences your children have at school resonate with me, and I share the responsibility to serve our community with a talented and energetic group of teachers and school staff.

Our goal is to provide an education that prepares your children for an ever-expanding world. As such, we not only provide high quality instruction, but we aim to develop values such as empathy, social and civic responsibility, and global citizenship. Students receive a content-rich education that is infused with the arts and Modern Hebrew immersion throughout all curricular areas. Our robust curriculum includes English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art, Physical Education, and Modern Hebrew. We hold our students to a high level of academic expectation, rooted in the belief of ‘Success for Every Student’. We differentiate our instruction and employ best practices in education to meet the needs of every child. To support instruction, our teachers and staff undergo meaningful professional development to hone their craft as they work with your children.

While the teachers, students, and staff work together each day, it is our families that round out our school community and continue to make HLA a special place for all. We encourage our families to be active participants in the school community. Becoming a member of our Parent Teacher Organization, being a trip chaperone, or volunteering at some of our many events are just a few ways you can contribute. HLA is committed to engaging our parent community and sharing the education experience with all of our families.

I encourage you to reach out to teachers, staff, and administration at any time. Our goal is to work with our families to create the best opportunities for all. I am looking forward to a year full of exciting lessons, memorable experiences, and a shared love for learning by our entire HLA community. We can accomplish great things as partners in our shared journey with your children.

Educationally yours,

Jennice Hyde
Interim Head of School
